On 31 October 2018, following our favourable response to the Australia-Wide Novice Pairs, a similar event was conducted for Restricted-level pairs (each player with fewer than 300 masterpoints). Well done to all, and especially to (pictured): E/W winners Tom Siminski and Sharon Bull; tournament director Sylvia Goodwin; and N/S winners Megan Grant and Margaret Boniface. Over the weekend of 27 to 28 October 2018, GLBC fielded 3 teams in the Mid Coast region’s Grand National Open Teams (GNOT) finals, with one team placing a strong first in a very competitive field: Henry Hudson, Bronwyn Boehm, Jill and Karl Buchmann. Would like to improve your game beyond the basics and acquire some extra skills? If the answer is 'yes!' and you've been playing bridge for a year or more, come along to a series of lessons in our clubhouse on Tuesday afternoons from 2pm to 4pm for four weeks starting on 15 January 2019 (i.e. 15/1/2019, 22/1/2019, 29/1/2019 and 5/2/2019). Those interested can add their name to a list on the notice board at the club.

Well done to the winners of this event: Judy Scown, Wayne & Fran Carroll and Don Scown (pictured). With 5 wins and 1 loss, their win was well earned. Honourable mention also goes to 2nd place-getters, Megan Grant, Margaret Boniface, Gail Salmon and Daphne Yarnold who also had 5 wins and a loss over the 2-week teams championship. At the time of publication, 50 pairs are registered for Saturday 15 September 2018 and 28 teams for Sunday 16 September 2018 - and entries are still open. Cost for each event is $40 per player, payable on the day, and a light lunch will be provided on both days.
