Support for GLBC's recent Congress from MidCoast Council

Adding to the generosity of local businesses (see article below) in sponsoring our Congress last weekend, we wish to acknowledge MidCoast Council for their support through their Event and Festival Sponsorship fund. The Congress' full capacity and great success was due to this combined financial support - and of course, the work and dedication of many volunteers.

2025 GLBC 41st Congress - 1&2 March 2025

Yes! The first in a long time - and sadly becoming rare around Australia - our very own face-to-face congress is only a month away! Get your partner and team organised for the first weekend in March. Competition is open to Novice, Intermediate and Open ranked players so, as much depends on numbers, it's worth registering for players of all levels.

The experience of a congress is very worthwhile, and fun. Not to mention the very important potential to win points and money prizes. Check out the attached flyer for details and register soon via MyABF.

Welcome to 2025, the centenary of contract bridge!

Happy New Year!

Great Lakes Bridge Club (GLBC) games kicked off on the very first day of the new year, and what better way to start it. Did you know that a century ago, auction bridge or plafond underwent a reincarnation? The game that we play these days, contract bridge, was invented in 1925 by Harold Vanderbilt, a wealthy American who found himself idle on a steamship cruise.

Please read the following as there are some important updates for all, especially if you haven't picked up your 2025 Program Booklet yet.

Wrapping up another successful year

2024 saw plenty of winners in our thriving bridge club from all skill levels. Congratulations to all! A full list of award and certificate winners is below.

We again thank our hard-working volunteers - committee members and many others - for all they've done this year to ensure our club remains a happy and healthy one. Play resumes on 1 January 2025 but in the meantime:

MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL
