Xmas in July 2023 a big hit!

Any excuse for a bit of fun, exactly that was had on Wednesay 12 July 2023 when GLBC members celebrated a winter Xmas. Scrumptious food, some bubby and friendly chats kicked off the morning, followed by a Hi-Lo game that was a tad more vibrant than usual. Thanks to organisers and providers for a lovely day.

'Next step' lessons

We're pleased to announce that our club and its wonderful volunteers Shirley & Sylvia will run a series of lessons for our 'post-kindergarten' players (in fact, anyone under 100 Masterpoints) on Tuesdays 2 - 4pm. Each series will run for 3 weeks and cover specific bidding sequences as well as declarer and defence play.

Local pair Megan and Barbara place third in State Seniors Pairs Championship

Many of our GLBC members travel to compete in congresses and competitions, often punching above their weight. The NSW Bridge Association State Seniors Championships, held in Gosford from 30 May to 2 June 2023, has seen Megan Grant and Barbara Williams (pictured) placing a hard-fought third in a very tough field of 32 pairs.

Congratulations Nikki!

One of our dedicated directors and an ardent supporter of bridge beginners, Nikki Taylor now has yet another feather in her cap: Australian National Senior (over 80) Women’s Golf Champion!

Still tireless and unstoppable into her eighties, Nikki completed the 3-day competition at Harrington to turn around and organise (and direct) the fortnightly Hi/Lo Extension game on Saturday.

We are very lucky to have people like Nikki - well done!

Congratulations Jacqui - Local Achievement Award 2023!

On Monday 6 March, we were proud to witness our oldest and one of our dearest GLBC members, Jacqui Jennings receiving the 2023 Local Achievement Award at the 2023 Myall Lakes Seniors Concert at Club Forster.

At 98 years old, Jacqui is still well and truly a part of our wonderful community, living and driving independently, taking part in a range of activities that often involve helping or supporting others. She is a great role model in all aspects of her busy life.
