Update - ongoing flooring issues

Members may have noticed the continuing problems with the floor covering in our clubhouse. Our committee have spent long hours attempting and substantial club finances remedying the issue. Below is a summary provided by our President on past efforts and the current status of this problem.

2019:

It was decided the then aging and mouldy carpet should be replaced but when removed, swollen chipboard was discovered underneath. The entire floor was subsequently removed, revealing water pools under the piered building. was notified of the problem. It was suspected that Council's large mounds of soil etc dumped on the vacant block nearby to the east had caused runoff under the clubhouse. However, a Council representative did not believe this was responsible.

A pit was dug, a pump and fan installed underneath the building and a substantial drain was run outside along the eastern side. New waterproof flooring and carpet tiles were then laid (inspection plate included.)

It is worth noting that the Art Society who share the premises (western side) have experienced none of these problems.

2023:

Carpet tiles began lifting and were reglued. However, this continued randomly across the floor. Unfortunately, mould was noticed on the loose carpet tiles later in the year.

2024:

Carpet tiles continued to lift and cracks in the clubhouse's brickwork began to appear. Council was contacted on numerous occasions to inspect the issues, including the possibility of subsidence but advised no-one from Council was available.

2025:

A different glue to fix the ongoing carpet tile issue has seen some success. The original carpet layer has been recalled to inspect the problem, the committee awaits his advice.
