A Fine Finish for 2023!

Monday 11 December 2023 saw another crowded, happy and enjoyable celebration of a successful year of bridge. The event started with the presentation of awards and certificates (pictured and listed below). A delicious lunch followed, ending with a relaxed game of casual bridge.

The latter included a pair of our most senior members - with over 180 years between them, their combined time playing bridge is estimated to be over 60 years!

Trophy winners (pictured clockwise from top left) were:

  • Col Hinchcliffe Trophy for Most Improved (presented by Masterpoints Secretary Shirley Craig) - Christine Giles
  • Anniversary Pairs - Barbara Williams, Megan Grant, Gil Clarke & Pauline Erby
  • President's Trophy (presented by Club President Dick Barry) - Wayne Carroll
  • Malcolm Clarke Trophy for Master Pairs (presented by son Gil Clarke) - Karl & Jill Buchmann

Other annual awards for those who were unfortunately unable to attend icluded:

  • Encouragement award - Vicki Fritsche
  • Greg Simpson Trophy - Barbara Watt
  • Learners Enthusiasm Award - Deb Debnam & Maureen Harlock.

Congratulations to these and the many other awarded members who received certificates for various events throughout 2023. It was a pleasure to see such a wide and diverse group of winners.

Finally, with sincere thanks to our committee for their untiring efforts throughout 2023, good wishes go to all for a safe and happy Christmas season and an even better new year.
