2022 Australia-Wide Novice Pairs Competition

On Thursday 26 May 2022, GLBC took part in the annual Australia-Wide Novice Pairs Competition — a national bridge event run by Australian Bridge Magazine for novices (fewer than 100 masterpoints as at 31 March).

Our competitors enjoyed quite a challenging morning. All received a booklet showing the deals and a commentary on the game. Certificates go to the top two places each way: N/S 1st - Cherry Bouttell & Beryl Henderson; and 2nd - Alison Maberly Smith & Fran Peterson; E/W 1st - Christine Dunn & John Van Doorn and 2nd Carol Gait and Faye Birtwistle respectively. Congratulations all!

Last year’s national top 50 players list in this event included Christine Dunn & John van Doorn. Maybe we’ll see a repeat accolade this year — watch this space!
