We have five new books in our extensive clubhouse library with excellent tips and exercises to help you improve your card play. Written by Barbara Seagram and David Bird, they are well set out and easy to follow. Titles include: Defensive Play at Bridge, Declarer Play at Bridge (helpful for those players with about 50 Masterpoints looking to make that extra trick), Planning the Play of a Bridge Hand (useful for new players) and more.

Friday Night Bridge with Pizza

Friday Night extension for those who are timid about cooking for a group. A good response by players who are happy to have greasy fingers for a few minutes along wth a wine and fun chat over dinner...then back to Bridge. The Next Pizza Night is planned for November..see you then.

GLBC 38th Annual Congress 14 & 15 September 2019

There are currently 41 pairs and 25 teams registered to play this weekend in our congress. Entries close Monday 9 September, but late entries may still be accepted. For more information, check out the brochure. Also: a reminder that we’d be grateful for your donations of sweet and savoury goodies for both Saturday and Sunday. Please put your name on the list at the club.

2019 Winter Pairs winners

Well done to the winners of our recent Winter Pairs event, Alison McGregor & Ray Peirce (pictured), who snatched victory with 180 matchpoints from 2nd place-getters , Les Marks & Norma Bousfield (on 179 matchpoints). In 3rd place were Sally Stockwell and Lorrie Snodgrass (on 176 matchpoints). In the Consolation section, congratulations to N/S winners Tom Siminski & Teresa Siminska, and E/W winners Judy Scott & Pam Lawrence.

2019 Swiss teams winners

After a gruelling 2-week battle, congratulations go to the winners of our 2019 Swiss teams event (with 4 wins, 1 draw & 1 loss): Don & Judy Scown, and Wayne & Fran Carroll (pictured). With 5 wins, 1 draw and no losses, special mention goes to 2nd place-getters: Les Marks, Norma Bousfield, Lorraine Adams & Barbara Williams. Well done again to all who competed!
