Yes, it's happening again! Save the date for our 42nd Congress in 2026: Saturday 28th February to Sunday 1st March. We'd love another big rollup of locals. And spread the word to your regional and online bridge friends.

We are also looking for volunteers to organise the Catering and Raffles for both days. Please let Denise know if you're interested.

Members may have noticed the continuing problems with the floor covering in our clubhouse. Our committee have spent long hours attempting and substantial club finances remedying the issue. Below is a summary provided by our President on past efforts and the current status of this problem. 

2019:

The Australian Bridge Federation (ABF) has raised annual membership fees to $26.60 per person for 2026, and this will rise again to $29.90 in 2027. The reasoning for the increases can be found here. The NSW Bridge Association also charges $20 per member annually. 

Although these fees together exceed GLBC's current full membership cost of $40p.a., we are grateful to our committee in deciding to not raise our membership fees at this stage. 

Congratulations to all our Novice players who entered the recent Australia-Wide competition. Further to our article below, the national results are now finalised, and our club's scores are attached. 

Special mention goes to Gary and Denise Marr who placed 1st locally and 8th nationally with a score of 68.5. Well done!

On Thursday 29 May 2025, GLBC took part in the annual Australia-Wide Novice Pairs Competition — a national bridge event run by Australian Bridge Magazine for novice bridge players (holding fewer than 100 masterpoints).

Unfortunately, due to a technical error, the final round of this year's GNOT qualifier had to go 'old school' with pen and paper. The final outcome is below. Congratulations to the winners and thank you to our director Sylvia for staying back to complete the results by hand. Thanks also to the substitutes who enabled the last round to go ahead following a very harrowing week for some of our members and the prior commitments of others.

Round 3 of our GNOT is confirmed for Wednesday 28 May 2025. 

Due to multiple clashes with the previously advised date of 11 June 2025, the date of the 3rd round of this year's GNOTs reverts to the date reserved in the calendar for a GNOT round, i.e. 28-May-25.

On Sunday 18 May 2025, Great Lakes Bridge Club (GLBC) hosted this year's regional final of the NSW Country Teams. Following a full day's hard-fought competition, GLBC-2 had a clear win with Port-2's team placing second, both with 5 wins out of 8 matches.
