Outcomes of the latest committee meeting

At the last Great Lakes Bridge Club (GLBC) committee meeting for 2023, several issues were discussed in depth, resulting in some changes for 2024:

System cards

  • All members are encouraged to complete and display their pair's system card on the table for every round. This includes beginners who compete in Hi-Lo and similar events.
  • Please take a moment to peruse the opposition's system card before play begins.
  • For more information and to help you fill out your system card, check out the ABF introductory guide.

Membership and other fees

  • The NSW Bridge Association (NSWBA) has doubled its affiliation fee to $20/member. Further, the Australian Bridge Federation (ABF) will increase its capitation fee to $20/member in March 2024.
  • As our club charges only $30/member, the extra cost to our members will be absorbed by GLBC for the time being.
  • Increased membership and/or table fees will be discussed at our 2024 AGM.

President’s Trophy 2024

To qualify, a member must play 6 of the 9 scheduled events. Of those who qualify, the top half will receive outright green points as an extra bonus.

Master Pairs 2024

Competitors in Section A need only 50+ Master Points (MPs) to qualify, Section B players will have <50 MPs. According to ABF regulations, a 'master factor' (specific allocations of Masterpoints) doesn't apply to an 'Open' section.
