Notes from the recent GLBC committee meeting

The below was recently emailed to GLBC members and is summarised here for general information only

Club House Repairs: Our 20-year-old building is now in need of roofing repairs. Unfortunately, recent government grant applications have been unsuccessful so these repairs will be met by GLBC funds.  As a result, event funding will be restricted.

Annual General Meeting - Monday 2nd August 2021: Several committee positions will become available at this meeting, including Club President. Members are urged to consider taking up roles this year and/or in future years in support of our club. These include (but are not limited to) Purchasing Officer, Tournament Director, Treasurer, Secretary and Masterpoint Secretary. Nomination forms for GLBC Committee positions will be available on the noticeboard over the next few weeks.  Please feel free to discuss any of the roles with a Committee member.

Country Teams: GLBC is sending 2 teams to the Zone Finals in Coffs Harbour on 26-27 June 2021, and subsidising these by paying table fees and $50 towards travel.

Annual Awards: As per above, money prizes will not be awarded at our end-of-year function. However, the committee has decided to fund the catering for the Christmas lunch - within COVID-19 restrictions.

Congresses 2021: Ongoing COVID-19 seating and catering restrictions (as issued by Midcoast Council) mean we will not be holding a congress this year.

Special Events: Please add the following to your diaries:

  • State Open Pairs - an opportunity to earn Red Masterpoints at the club level  Wed 29 September 2021
  • Australia-Wide Bridge for Brains (with set boards and result booklets) Wed 22 Sept 2021
